Channeling teen classics like The Goonies and The Breakfast Club, the story wrestles with depression, anxiety, doubt, and identity. From Day One, the approach we've taken with this project has been to not talk over people's heads or shove a message down our audience's throat, as some "Christian" films tend to. Teens aren't idiots. They know when something is cheesy or fake. Many faith-based films tend to take a message and grind it down 7 or 8 times throughout the story until it's painful to watch. We are releasing a teen drama first and foremost, with faith-based elements organically ingrained in the story. We have real characters with real problems...that's what we call earning the right to be heard.
Teen depression in the United States is at an all-time high. One in ten teens suffer from severe depression at any given time, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people starting at age 10. This is a crisis, and we need to take action.
That's why we're offering you the opportunity to preview this powerful new coming-of-age movie. WHAT RHYMES WITH REASON will be released in theaters nationwide on World Mental Health Day, October 10th.
